Wisconsin Minor Child Power of Attorney Form

The Wisconsin Minor Child Power of Attorney proposes to temporarily entrust the parental powers associated with a child to a surrogate person. The controls to sign and take action on the child/children’s behalf can also be useful in scenarios where the parent cannot be present.

Statutes – Wisconsin Statutes Annotated § 48-979 and § 244-16

Definition – “Child,” when used without further qualification, means a person who is less than 18 years of age, except that for purposes of investigating or prosecuting a person who is alleged to have violated a state or federal criminal law or any civil law or municipal ordinance, “child” does not include a person who has attained 17 years of age (§ 48-92(2)).

Signing Requirements – As mandated by the state of Wisconsin, a notary official is required to monitor the endorsement of the paperwork to validate the signatures (§ 244-05).
