The Massachusetts Living Will, also referred to as a “personal directive”, is an individual’s account of what they would want to occur should they end up in a comatose state. Users of this form can stipulate what conditions are unacceptable to prolong their life, what procedures coincide with their religious beliefs, and how they would like their death & funeral arrangements to be handled. It should be noted that this document is NOT legally binding, but it is still considered a good measure to take as it can be used as a guide for loved ones and physicians when proceeding with end-of-life care. Following the completion of each desired section, executors of this instrument are encouraged to sign it to reaffirm the statements made within the document.
