Vermont Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney Form

The Vermont Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney documents the performance of issuing the privilege to sign on behalf of a vehicle owner. Vermont will require the vehicle owner(s) to apply their signature(s) to applications or titles when attempting a transfer or processing an application regarding an automobile or trailer registration.

Statute – Powers of Attorney (14 V.S.A. § 3501 – 14 V.S.A. § 3516)

Definition – “Power of attorney” means a written document by which a principal designates an agent to act on his or her behalf (14 V.S.A. § 3501(8)).

Signing Requirements – Sufficient acknowledgment obligations can be met by recording necessary signature(s) before a licensed notary.
